Gettysburg is a small town in in South Dakota's Great Lakes region.

Gettysburg, population 1,100 (2020), is the county seat of Potter County along the 45th parallel. Gettysburg was platted in 1884 and was named in commemoration of the Battle of Gettysburg. A large share of the early settlers were Civil War veterans of the Union Army. Gettysburg was once home to Gettysburg Air Force Station which closed in 1968.

West of Gettysburg is Lake Oahe, which offers numerous outdoor recreational opportunities.

Gettysburg is located along U.S. Route 212, about 60 mi (97 km) northeast of Pierre and 5 mi (8.0 km) east of U.S. Route 83.
