Inca is a town in Raiguer in Mallorca, with a population of 35,000 in 2024.
The origin of the town name is unknown. It's not relate to the Inca civilisation of South America.
Understand
[edit]Inca has long been a wine-growing area, but was badly hit by phylloxera in the 19th century. The town turned to leather craft, and many wine cellars were converted into restaurants. Leather remains a major industry but wine-making recovered with resistant grapes, and the area was awarded DOP status in 1991.
