Marinette is a city of more than 11,000 people in Northeast Wisconsin, on the border with the Upper Peninsula and Menominee.
Understand
[edit]Marinette in the 19th century became an important lumbering town in Wisconsin, ultimately peaking as Wisconsin's tenth largest city during the 1900 census at around 16,000 residents. While there are still paper mills and a shipyard in town, Marinette continuously lost people until the 2020 census as a result of a declining lumber industry in the area. The lumber industry in the area however, is known for the Peshtigo fire in nearby Peshtigo.
