    Mirabel is a suburb of Montreal, located in the Laurentians region of Quebec.

    Mirabel is a recreational and tourist destination offering a wide range of activities and services to visitors. The main attractions are:

    • its international airport, specializing in non-passenger transport; the airport area also offers motor sports (ICAR and karting);
    • sports and leisure infrastructure: municipal parks, community halls, school infrastructure (sports and cultural), cycle paths, etc.;
    • arts and culture: many artists/craftsmen offer their creations;
    • agritourism: horse riding, farms (market gardens or livestock), local produce shops; Mirabel offers the products and services of a dozen sugar factories;
    • its food offerings: in restaurants, dining rooms, reception rooms, golf club rooms and sugar shacks;
    • eight golf clubs.

    Mirabel is the largest municipality in the Montreal metropolitan area, and is due to the merger of several municipalities in the 1970s during the construction of the Montreal-Mirabel International Airport. Mostly agricultural, the city's population is spread across different village centers and its urban areas consist of ​​several neighboring municipalities which overflow into its territory.

    Montréal–Mirabel International Airport, which opened in 1975, never became a major aviation hub and the industrial parks never materialized, and in 2004, the airport closed to all scheduled commercial passenger traffic. It continues to operate as a cargo airport and handles a few charter passenger flights.
