Montmagny is a town on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River, in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec, Canada. The city is known for its annual Snow Goose Festival in October. Thousands of snow geese flock to the city each year. They have inspired the names of several hotels, restaurants, and streets in the city. Montmagny is also a great place to watch shorebirds. The city is home to one of the province's 28 migratory bird sanctuaries.

The ferry travels a distance of 7.72 km (one way) at high tide, entering through the confluence channel of the river and the Rivière du Sud which crosses the town of Montmagny. Except by air or by pleasure boat, the ferry is the essential main artery to reach the island at high tide. At low tide, the sandstone stretches up to 2.8 km facing the Montmagny wharf, and up to 84 m at the height of the island wharf.

- 1 Archipel de l'Isle-aux-Grues Archipelago of 21 islands in the St. Lawrence River. Only Isle-aux-Grues and Grosse-Île are accessible to the public. The Montmagny wharf offers a privileged river access route to Isle-aux-Grues since the Société des traversiers du Québec operates a ferry going there.
