Drink
[edit]- Marsh Island Brewing, 2 Main St, ☏ +1 207-866-1277. Located at the bottom of Main Street right before the Brandon M. Silk Memorial Bridge, this brewery is popular amongst locals and college students alike, particularly for its laid-back atmosphere. Oftentimes, you'll find graduate students working on their coursework while enjoying a beer. Though food choices are lacking when compared to Orono Brewing Company (Marsh Island Brewing has snacking fare, like soft pretzels and nachos, though there is a seasonal "Marsh Island Melts" in the summertime that prepares flatbread pizzas with artisanal ingredients), the taps are frequently rotated and there's a good variety of different beer styles. Favorites like the Pulp Truck IPA and the PB Who, You? milk stout are on the tap list year-round. While there is ample outdoor seating, the inside is a bit small and tends to fill up quickly, especially later in the evening and on weekends. Ironically, the brewery is not located on Marsh Island itself.
