Regions
[edit]I am not sure it needs needs any. We did though do a fairly micro regionalisation of neighbouring Rwanda --(WT-en) Burmesedays 06:53, 23 January 2010 (EST)
- It's pretty tiny, but quite populous. It's the same size as Maryland, which has five regions (with further subdivisions), but with nearly twice the population. Of course, poorer areas of the world have less density with regards to travel articles, but I think Burundi could use 3-4 regions on the map, depending on what cultural geography suggests. Of course, that doesn't mean we need to create the actual region articles yet! --(WT-en) Peter Talk 11:22, 23 January 2010 (EST)
- That brings up a point which should probably be discussed elsewhere. Do you not think we should create region articles as a matter of course when we do the regionalisation? I do. A map which meticulously shows regions that do not exist seems a bit odd. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 12:00, 23 January 2010 (EST)
- Agree with Burmesedays, I think we don't just create maps, but that after making the map we should also get the regional division in place. The purpose of the map is to illustrate the travel regions. --(WT-en) globe-trotter 12:36, 23 January 2010 (EST)
- I can easily divide it into 3 or 4 regions but I think it will be fairly arbitary. There is an insanely high number of provinces, no cultural geography that makes any sense for division and little in the way of ecological differences. Most of country is almost completely deforested and the environment wrecked due to over-population. I am concerned that this would be regionalisation just for the sake of it. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 10:32, 26 January 2010 (EST)
- I don't think Burundi needs regions, certainly not at this stage when there's virtually no content anyway. We've got plenty of region articles covering much larger territories in size and population, eg. East Java is a region of 35 million people. (WT-en) Jpatokal 21:25, 26 January 2010 (EST)
- I have gone ahead and produced a map without regions for now. It will be quite straightforward to regionalise later if we need to. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 11:17, 27 January 2010 (EST)

- Not in the article, though I find the deletion argument weak and have pushed back on Commons, at least for now. Ikan Kekek (talk) 00:22, 15 April 2020 (UTC)
