- Oppose - South Padre Island is described as a Spring Break destination, while Padre Island National Seashore protects the longest undeveloped stretch of barrier island in the world. They are very different animals. Let's not put them in the same cage. Padre Island seems to be outside of the regional hierarchy, so it is probably worth keeping as it might be a common search term. - Comment copied from Talk:South Padre Island:
- I would like to address the same issue here as I did with the Padre Island National Seashore article. South Padre Island is a resort destination in its own right and should not be merged with the Padre Island article. Padre Island and SPI are separated from each other by the Mansfield Channel and there is no way to cross. These are two completely separate destinations, with SPI being its own city and resort area in the Rio Grande Valley, while Padre Island is a suburban district of Corpus Christi three hours north, with the PI National Seashore being connected to Padre Island (Corpus Christi). I have to say that I do not agree with the suggestion to merge the two areas. They are completely separate. User:Americannomad1776 (talk) 19:01, 15 August 2018 (UTC)
