To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Project:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. Better late thann never. Keep smiling, (WT-en) edmontonenthusiast [ee] .T.A.L.K. 18:31, 25 November 2008 (EST).
Images to places
[edit]While it is fine that you upload your files to Wikivoyage (so long as they have a reason), using 10 of them in an article that makes 4 pages is not ok. It creates way too much bandwidth. Not to mention, a lot of people are using computers (with 50)that are hooking up to one server, or have Dial-Up, which makes it extremely long to load, which is a major turn off. Not to mention we really prefer images on the left hand side as words tend to go more choppy (where they cut off at odd places)and not have smooth lines and really IS cluttered. Also, the amount is way too much for the article that is that small. Perhaps add some more information so it is worht 15 pages (TO PrInt)? Then you could add perhaps 5 more images. A page should have no more than twenty images, and only over fifteen if it is a long article (akin to Chicago, San Francisco, New York, and Paris). Not to mention, when I looked at it, the article was beeing taken over by your [wonderful] images. Sometimes smaller really, truely is better. This is a very big turnoff. If you want to promote the place, you'd want to make sure people will feel like reading the article, and not shroud it with images. I hope this helps for reference. - Can you please stop re-adding your images, there are reasons and if you are just doing it to spite or make people angry, please stop. (WT-en) edmontonenthusiast [ee] .T.A.L.K. 23:17, 25 November 2008 (EST).
Niteroi and Edmontonenthusiast
[edit]Hi there. I hope you read this before you totally give up on Wikivoyage. Your contributions are greatly appreciated, and I myself, after seeing what you've done with the Niteroi article, wish I had made it across the bay last time I was in RJ. The way you were treated by (WT-en) Edmontonenthusiast is frowned upon by this community as well (as you can see if you read the rest of Ee's talk page), so I hope you don't take it as representative of everyone who comes here, especially since Ee is a new user like you. I'd be more than willing to collaborate with you to make Niterói a really great article if you'll just stick around. A gente pode até bater um papo em português se quiser.
