Hello Penarc! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.
If you are a Wikipedian then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:
- NPOV → be fair (not quite the same thing!)
- be bold → plunge forward
- Village pump → travellers' pub
- External links → We do not use a separate external links section, but incorporate primary links only into the text itself.
- sandbox → graffiti wall
- stub notes → Article status notes
It may also be very useful for you to check out Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians. If you need help, take a look at Project:Help, or else post a message in the travellers' pub or on my talk page. Thanks for contributing! JamesA >talk 13:36, 15 November 2012 (UTC)
- You are trying to link to Spanish Wikipedia? You should use
[[w:es:Main Page]]
which gives w:es:Main Page. You can't use[[Wikipedia:]]
as that adds a Related Sites link on the left sidebar. Links to Spanish Wikivoyage would be es:Main Page, but of course, there's no such thing yet! So that link instead takes you to Incubator where a Spanish version is under development. You also might want to look at incubator:Incubator:Wikivoyage_import for some background. Happy editing! [edit]Hello, Penarc! Thank you for your contributions! However, I have several remarks that are mostly of critical nature:
- You have removed a large part of the Get in section and marked this edit as minor. I believe, you understand that such edits are unacceptable. I also hope that your action was not intentional...oK--Penarc (talk) 15:41, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
- I had to remove the OSM map because it has not been properly exported. We prefer to draw maps in our own style. We may allow simple OSM exports with only minor adjustments, but we will never accept bare printscreens showing the zoom tool. This would be a huge disrespect to the readers who are looking for good, carefully written travel guides. Additionally, I do not quite understand what the reader should see on this map. Why do we need it in the travel guide?
- Pictures should not exceed 20-30% of the page width. Otherwise, they outweigh the text, which is the most important part of our guides. Moreover, big pictures become annoying when you try to print the article.
Thank you for your understanding! --Atsirlin (talk) 19:55, 17 November 2012 (UTC)
