Hello Romaine! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.

If you are a Wikipedian then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:

It may also be very useful for you to check out Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians. If you need help, take a look at Project:Help, or else post a message in the travellers' pub or on my talk page. Thanks for contributing! LtPowers (talk) 23:56, 12 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi Romaine. Feel free to run the bot now. I'm about to update the template and will update a couple of dozen country pages just to manually test and check that the information is okay. JamesA >talk 03:55, 15 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Re:Sorry for the delay

[edit]

Hey Romaine. I'm not mad at all, that's completely fine. Of course, we're volunteers here and we all get busy. I myself am a little preoccupied at the moment and haven't edited much at all lately. You're real life duties are a much higher priority. I made a few more minor modifications to the template and implemented it using the Whatlinkshere page up to and including J. Kazakhstan onwards has largely not been implemented. I only did it manually as I found there were many unforeseen errors with the captioning that required some manual fixing. I also wanted to add some photos/maps/captions to countries that were missing them. It should be fine to run the bot now if you are able to. All the best! Hi. I've now gone through the remaining wts: links, in a way that I believe preserves all the useful information you wanted kept.

Firstly, I removed those which were either in an article which now has a Commons link, or where the wts: link is exactly the same as the article title (give or take a Category: prefix), in which case they didn't add any extra information that could be used to find Commons material. These two steps removed all but ~170 of the previous ~1400 wts: tags.

I then converted the remaining ~170 wts: tags to instances of the {{wts}} template, stopping them from generating spurious text in the article (as broken wts: links are no longer hidden), and adding them to a hidden category Category:Pages with old wts links. If you'd like to go through those and fix them by converting them to Commons links wherever possible, I can take care of most the rest of the work in finding Commons articles using my bot. -- The Anome (talk) 22:03, 10 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Temporary account IP viewer

[edit]

Hello, Romaine.

A recent change now means that all IP addresses are no longer visible to most ordinary users. However, as per WMF policy, any user who has made at least 300 edits with an account older than 6 months may request the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) permission to view IP addresses of all temporary accounts for up to 90 days. You are receiving this mass message because your account is autopatrolled, or has patroller and/or template editor permissions, and have over 300 edits, and thus are likely eligible to request this permission.

Guidelines surrounding the use of the tool can be found at Wikivoyage:Temporary account IP viewer; if granted, you must also accept the WMF policy in your preferences.

TAIV permissions can be requested at Wikivoyage:Temporary account IP viewer/Requests, or on any admin's talk page.
