See
[edit]- The Bay of Voidokilia The amazing bay of Voidokilia is an interruption in the limestone ridge which goes from Methoni in the south to Gargaliani in the North. It is through this interruption that the waves of the Ionias sea created one of the most spectacular beaches and bays of Greece. Around this area, you find a dune landscape. This is very rare type of landscape in the Peloponnese.
- 1 The Cave of Nestor. The Cave of Nestor to the south of the Bay.
- 2 . The Old Venetian Castle of Pylos higher up on the hill, above the Cave of Nestor.
- 3 Voidokilia Beach. Voidokilia Beach is famous for its horseshoe-shaped bay and soft golden sand. The shallow, calm waters make it ideal for swimming, while the unspoiled setting—backed by dunes and lagoons—gives it a wild, almost untouched feel. There are no major facilities here, so bring water and shade. For the best views, hike up to the ruins of Nestor’s Cave or the nearby hilltop castle, where the full curve of the bay is revealed in spectacular fashion.
