[edit]This is a state occupied majorly by the Hausa ethnic group. The major language spoken in this state is Hausa. The population is mainly Muslim. Sharia law is valid.
The major industry in the state is agriculture. Potiskum has one of the largest cattle markets in West Africa. The state's agricultural produce includes gum arabic, groundnuts, beans, and cotton. While Yobe state is an agricultural state, the state also has rich mineral deposits, including gypsum and kaolin in the Fune LGA.
