There is good news for Cameroonians as the govenment in partnership with AUGENTIC — the mastermind behind the PASSSCAM platform have launched on online platform idcam.cm for National ID Card pre-enrollment. Based on the information from the Cameroon’s DGSN, Citizens will be able to obtain their news Mational ID Card in only 48 Hours with this news system.
The website idcam.cm serves as the official portal for the online pre-registration system for obtaining the Carte Nationale d’Identité (CNI) in Cameroon. This new system was launched on February 17, 2025, allowing citizens to fill out an electronic form, submit necessary information, and schedule appointments for biometric data capture. The initiative aims to streamline the process, enabling the issuance of the CNI within 48 hours after physical enrollment, which starts on February 24, 2025
The idcam.cm platform offers a seamless online pre-enrollment process for users seeking to obtain their CNI. By visiting the website, users can begin registration in their preferred language, either French or English. To proceed, they must provide an email or phone number, after which a validation code is sent via SMS or email for authentication. Once verified, users are required to complete a form containing both mandatory and optional fields.
It will also facilitates secure payments through mobile money services such as MTN Mobile Money and Orange Money, with the cost of obtaining the CNI set at approximately 10,000 FCFA, along with additional fees for related documents. After completing these steps, users can schedule an appointment at their preferred enrollment center, selecting a date and location that best suits them. If necessary, they are allowed to modify their appointment once to accommodate any changes in their schedule.
Although this new system of ID card is to take effect as soon as possible, current NIC receipts remain valid until new cards are issued, but holders must re-enroll through this new system to obtain their definitive NIC. This digital approach is expected to reduce long wait times previously associated with obtaining national identification cards in Cameroon.
What documents are required for physical enrollment?
For physical enrollment to obtain the National Identity Card (NIC) in Cameroon, you must have several documents. Here is the list of necessary documents:
Supporting Documents required to be provided by type of application:
Renewal
- A photocopy of the birth certificate, birth certificate extract, judgment in lieu of a birth certificate or family record book signed by the competent authorities, as appropriate.
- The expired national identity card;
- A photocopy of the marriage certificate for married women;
- A document providing proof of occupation, if applicable
First time application
- A certified copy of the birth certificate, birth certificate extract, supplementary birth certificate judgement or family record book signed by the competent authorities, as the case may be;
- A certified copy of the marriage certificate for married women;
- Proof of occupation, if applicable;
- A nationality certificate signed by the President of the Court of First Instanc
In the event of loss, stolen or damage
- A certificate of declaration of loss, theft or damage issued by any National Security Service, including the full name, date and place of birth, filiation of the declarant, as well as the number and reference of the identification office that issued the lost, stolen or damaged national card;
- A copy of the lost, stolen or damaged national identity card;
- A copy of the birth certificate, birth certificate extract, judgment in lieu of a birth certificate or family record book signed by the competent authorities, as appropriate
In the event of correction or change of name
- A certified copy of the birth certificate, birth certificate extract, supplementary birth certificate judgement or family record book signed by the competent authorities, as appropriate;
- A certified copy of the decree authorising the change of name or its rectification;
- A certified copy of the marriage certificate for married women or an authenticated divorce certificate, if applicable;
- Proof of occupation, if applicable.
In the event of change of parentage
- The authenticated extract of the judgement establishing the change of filiation;
- The old national identity card;
- Proof of occupation, if applicable.
In the event of reinstatement
- A certified copy of the birth certificate or birth certificate extract, the judgment in lieu of a birth certificate or the family record book signed by the competent authorities, as the case may be;
- A certified copy of the reinstatement decree;
- A certified copy of the marriage certificate for married women;
- Proof of occupation, if applicable;
- Bulletin No. 3 of the special criminal record.
In the event of naturalised foreigners
- A certified copy of the birth certificate;
- A certified copy of the naturalisation decree;
- A certified copy of the marriage certificate for married women;
- Proof of occupation, if applicable;
- Bulletin No. 3 of the special criminal record.
