Ózd is an industrial town in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County in Northern Hungary, 53 km (33 mi) from the county seat of Miskolc.

The area has been inhabited since ancient times. The village of Ózd was first mentioned in 1272. The modern town came into being with the unification of the villages Ózd, Bolyok and Sajóvárkony during the socialist era of Hungary, when the northern part of the country was developed into a centre of heavy industry. Ózd is one of the poorest towns in Hungary.

[edit]Trains are available from Miskolc via Kazincbarcika and Putnok in every two hours. From Budapest you have to transfer in Miskolc. The whole journey from Budapest takes nearly 3½ hours and costs 4250 Ft.

- 4 Saints Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church (Szent Simon és Júdás Tádé római katolikus templom), Barátság utca 2, Szentsimon (Szentsimon, tűzoltószertár
20, 20A). The Romanesque church was built in the 13th century. It was rebuilt in Gothic style in the 14th-15th centuries. The mural of the nave was made in 1423. The wooden ceiling of the painted cassette was made in 1650, its organ was made around 1720. 
- 5 Saint Nicholas Roman Catholic Church (Szent Miklós római katolikus templom), Dobó István utca 2, Sajóvárkony (Sajóvárkony, AMK 33). Built around 1780 in Copf style.
- 6 Roób Resting Place (Roób pihenő), Zsély Aladár utca. Nice view to the town. Free to visit.
