Kalimpong (Nepali: कालिम्पोङ Kālimpoṅ, Bengali: কালিম্পং Kālimpaṁ) is a Himalayan district of West Bengal, east of Darjeeling and north of Jalpaiguri.

[edit]Nepali is the main language spoken in Kalimpong. However, as the state's official language, Bengali is also understood in the region.

[edit]Kalimpong is the only district of West Bengal not served by any rail service. Sevoke in Darjeeling is the nearest railhead to Kalimpong, and NH 10 up to Teesta Bazaar is the easiest way to get here from Sevoke.
By car
[edit]There are multiple roads from Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri districts that lead to Kalimpong. NH 10 up to Teesta Bazaar is the easiest way to get here from Siliguri, and SH 12 is useful if you come from Darjeeling town. You can also take NH 717A if you come from Malbazar. Areas around Jhalong are accessible only from Malbazar by taking a left spur road from NH 7 in the middle of the Chapramari forest.
