Understand
[edit]The Islet Regional County Municipality (RCM) covers a territory extending from the middle of the St. Lawrence River (opposite Baie-Saint-Paul) to the U.S. border. Its territory has an average length of approximately 40 km parallel to the St. Lawrence River and a depth of approximately 50 km perpendicular to the river. It was established on January 1, 1982. This RCM is bordered to the southeast by the state of Maine, whose bordering area is almost uninhabited; to the northwest by the St. Lawrence River, which varies between 20 and Template:Unit in width. On the river, a few rocky islets are part of the RCM; these few islands are between 5 and 11 km away from the river's shore.
