Sineu is a town in Pla de Mallorca, the central region of Mallorca. In 2024 it had a population of 4500.
Get in
[edit]Sineu is 33 km east of Palma, follow Ma-3011.
TIB buses from Palma take 35 min to Algaida, where they connect with minibus 432 to Pina, Lloret and Sineu (another 25 min).
Bus 441 runs every couple of hours between Ariany, Maria de Salut and Sineu.
Bus 442 runs every couple of hours from Vilafranca via Sant Joan.
Train T3 runs hourly from Palma, taking 50 min via Inca. It continues to Manacor, another 15 min.
1 Sineu Estació for buses and trains is east side of town.

- 1 Sa Plaça is the town's main square.
- Santa Maria de Sineu is the parish church, east side of the square. It was built from 1505 after a fire destroyed its predecessor, and enlarged in the 19th century. It's open daily 09:00-19:00.
- Town Hall is 100 m north of main square at San Francisco 10, corner of Bous. It's within the former Convento Jesús María, founded 1667.
- Palace of the Kings of Mallorca is 100 southwest of main square at Palau 17. It was later the Convent de la Concepción. It's never open.
- Oratorio de San José is a 13th century chapel 100 m south of main square at Hospital 6.
- 2 Ermita de Sineu is a peaceful chapel 1 km southeast of town, but the buildings are modern and undistinguished.

[edit]- 3 Petra is a village 11 km east of Sineu, where the main sight is the home of St Junípero Serra (1713-1784), who founded missions in California (open Tu-Sa 11:00-13:00). The village is modern on a grid pattern, and nothing like the famous Petra in Jordan.
- 4 Santuari de la Mare de Déu de Bonany, Pare Miquel Torrens, Petra, ☏ +34 971 826568. Daily 08:30-18:30. Hilltop hermitage with views of the plains. It has a baroque, double-towered chapel.
- 5 Els Calderers: see Manacor for this manor and gardens near St Joan.

- Poliesportiu Municipal is the city-run sports complex, west edge of town on Camí Vell de Costitx.
- Golf: the nearest course is at La Reserva Rotana Golfhotel near Manacor. Several courses lie further east near Cala Ratjada.
