Unneeded?

[edit]

Does Darwin Airport really need its own article? It looks fairly minor and uncomplicated, as though it could be easily handled at Darwin#Get in. We tend to reserve airport articles for large, complex international airports, particularly those that are airline hubs.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 09:35, 11 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

This is starting to become an airline hub for Jetstar Asia. While this isn't Jetstar's hub, it might in the future. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | en.wikipedia) 09:44, 11 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Well then maybe in the future it will need its own article. But as of now, it's a small single-terminal airport with few international flights. The purpose of dedicated airport articles is to tell travellers how to navigate multiple terminals, or how to fill their time when they have a long wait between connecting flights. Neither of those seem to apply here.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 10:07, 11 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yep. Merge and redirect to Darwin#By plane. Ikan Kekek (talk) 18:51, 11 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, this is a small airport and doesn't deserve an article. Even Adelaide doesn't have an article for its airport, and Adelaide Airport is certain busier than Darwin Airport (to be clear though, I don't think Adelaide Airport needs its own article either; it has only one terminal that is fairly small and a handful of international flights). Darwin is a major airport as it's the only major international Airport in Northern Australia (and Cairns - which is a lot smaller). Flights to Adelaide usually terminate at Sydney or Perth, and it's just a stopover. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | en.wikipedia) 06:10, 12 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
You could make the exact same argument (most important in a given region) about lots of airports that, nonetheless, don't need their own article, because they're not big or complex enough.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 08:04, 12 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Okay, you may as well redirect it. And I'll recreate this article in 2025. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | en.wikipedia) 08:08, 12 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
