    Regions vs atolls vs islands

    [edit]

The way the Maldives are set up really plays havoc with Wikivoyage's normal "destination" model -- (almost) every resort occupies its own island, which would normally mean that every resort would get its own article, but that's just stupid. So I've split the country into the official regions and propose listing resorts directly on the region pages -- see Kaafu for an example. Opinions? (WT-en) Jpatokal 05:46, 15 July 2007 (EDT)

    That sounds reasonable – (WT-en) cacahuate talk 20:02, 15 July 2007 (EDT)

    Map

    [edit]

The map looks good! The regionbox colors should be synced to it though, and Gan should be tagged as well, perhaps in parentheses after Hithadhoo? (WT-en) Jpatokal 02:24, 13 January 2010 (EST)

Believe it or not, those colors were all eyedropped right from the regions—they just looked totally different surrounded by white than by that sea blue color on the map. A bit of painstaking color adjustments by eye, and I think it now looks right. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 13:56, 13 January 2010 (EST)
Awesome map, this country has a strange shape.. --(WT-en) globe-trotter 14:17, 13 January 2010 (EST)

    WT's content

    [edit]

It looks like the latest on here added content directly from WT. I assume that this is still not permitted? --Nick talk 12:54, 11 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Copying text from Wikipedia is not strictly forbidden, but is usually a bad idea and in any case, cannot be done without attribution. See Wikivoyage:Cooperating with Wikipedia for specific policies, the most relevant of which is that the user obviously didn't credit Wikipedia, which is unacceptable and a violation of Wikipedia's CC-SA license. Whoops, I misread - this is from WT, not WP. Bad idea for sure, especially w/o citation. Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:35, 11 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
I reverted the edit, with an edit summary. Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:37, 11 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
    Thanks Ikan! --Nick talk 21:38, 12 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Sure thing. By the way, this was the work of the Telstra vandal, whom I blocked yet again... Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:42, 12 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Really? Ugh... it never ends! But it's great to see WV doing so well! --Nick talk 21:46, 12 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yes. No doubt s/he will be back by next week if not sooner. Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:49, 12 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
    I'll keep an eye out! --Nick talk 22:04, 12 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

A Maldives luxury resort is offering unlimited stays for a whole year. Starts at $30,000 for two people. Pashley (talk) 09:30, 13 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
