Redirect to Trans-Pecos
[edit]All of the articles linked here are already listed in the Trans-Pecos sub-region of Big Bend Country. Any change to the subregions should be proposed at Talk:Big Bend Country before being made. I propose to redirect this and Brewster County (Texas) to the existing Trans-Pecos article. Ground Zero (talk) 21:34, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
- Keep as separate article Since this county has multiple destinations, it should have a stand-alone article. Purplebackpack89 21:45, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
- As GZ says, changes to this site's regional structure can't be made unilaterally. I'll have a look at the amount of content in the articles later, when I'm on my computer. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:02, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Ikan Kekek What content was changed or removed from the regional articles? Purplebackpack89 22:20, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
- I think it's also important to remember how counterintuitive the regions are. While they make sense in having an article's worth of content, counties are a much more common and more likely searchable term. Purplebackpack89 22:33, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
- You're ignoring the policy point. Please acknowledge it and agree to discuss any future changes to this site's regional structure and wait for a consensus before making any. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:47, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
- I have added text from the Wikipedia article about the Trans-Pecos region, a term that has been in use since 1887. Ground Zero (talk) 00:49, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Ikan Kekek I'll acknowledge the policy point IF you can point to some unilateral change or deletion I made to the Trans-Pecos article. And, no, I think this claim that I committed some affront on "the site's regional structure" is exaggerated. Purplebackpack89 00:52, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
- You began creating new subregions of Big Bend Country without getting consensus from other editors. Wv:regions says: "Importantly, we only add a level of regions when there is too much content in the existing breakdown. As a result, the regional hierarchy at Wikivoyage doesn't always follow the official breakdown — and frequently is much "flatter" than the official political or administrative breakdown." Ground Zero (talk) 01:20, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
- I acknowledge that that policy exists. I continue to support the inclusion of the two county articles I created. I also support the right of editors to make bold, good-faith edits. Purplebackpack89 01:37, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
- There is no such absolute right. Your hedging and resistance to genuinely recognizing Wikivoyage policy is noted. Please read wv:Plunge forward#...But don't be reckless!! Will you agree to follow this policy now and stop arguing against it in a thread about a redirect? If you want to reopen discussion of wv:breadcrumb navigation, probably the best place is Wikivoyage talk:Geographical hierarchy, but I don't think such a discussion would change anything or be a good use of anyone's time. As I mentioned before, to date, you've been a very constructive, valuable editor. Please don't be unnecessarily unilateral now. Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:40, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
- And I agree with GZ that there is currently no need to subdivide Trans-Pecos, which is hardly bursting at the seams. Merge and redirect all subregions. Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:42, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
