Migori

[edit]

There is no article about this city, and this is too long for a 1-liner listing. Please restore the listing as a briefer summary if you start an article about this city, and use the details in that article as relevant:

  • 1 Migori Migori on Wikipedia - (~50,000 inhabitants]. Given its size, the town has good infrastructure as it is the centre of the surrounding villages. There are numerous small hotels and restaurants, as well as a bank, petrol stations, a market and hospitals. A road leads from Migori to the Masai Mara National Reserve. Direct bus services and flights are available from Nairobi. Gold mining has been and continues to be carried out on a small scale in the surrounding area.

I have started writing an article about the city. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what information should be included in a regional article. As I understand it, only short explanations belong, not longer descriptions. Are sights mentioned in regional articles even if they are not yet listed in the city articles where they are located? Sometimes, but it's usually a much better practice to have full listings for them in the article for the nearest town if it's not too long a trip to get to them. Think about things like this: Wikivoyage has a breadcrumb navigation structure, so that, to take the example of Eldoret, it is a part of Western Kenya, which is part of Kenya, which is part of East Africa, which is part of Africa. In general, as we go up the breadcrumb navigation chain, since we're dealing with larger and larger areas, we want less and less detail and more of an overview. (There is a countervailing point, too, which is that we don't want to address points that apply to all or most of Kenya in articles for individual cities like Eldoret).
Since you've started writing a Migori article, we indeed need to have a listing for it in this article and link it. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:40, 29 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
