To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here.
Thanks a lot for plunging forward! However, as this is a travel guide, it is automatically assumed that every article is a travel article. Therefore, creating redirects with the word "travel" in them is useless, and I will delete them all.
You seem to be familiar with Nha Trang, so please update or add to the article in any way that you believe might help a visitor.
All the best,

- You missed the point. I'm trying to improve WV's SEO. Nearly 7% of incoming search engine traffic to Wikitravel and 1.6% of ours comes from people searching specifically for "Nhatrang travel", that's a lot. The number one Google result for that query is "Nha Trang travel guide" on Wikitravel.... We're missing out on the action here. Take a look: WT and WV, scroll down a bit. I've also gone through EnWP removing links to WT. Doing the same over at DeWP now. Acer (talk) 12:12, 26 July 2016 (UTC)
- I did miss the point, and thanks for removing the WT links from Wikipedia. But do you really plan on making similar redirects for every travel article? I think this is an argument you should present at Wikivoyage talk:Search Expedition and see if you can get agreement on it. I will not oppose your argument, but as this kind of thing could get really extensive really fast, I think it should be discussed. I would be willing to allow for the links I deleted to be restored as a single experiment relating to Nha Trang only, providing that you do give an explanation of what you're doing at the link I gave or another appropriate link. Ikan Kekek (talk) 12:23, 26 July 2016 (UTC)
- Oh no, definitely not. Just for this one here because it's such a massive amount of traffic. WT gets three times the amount of traffic that we do overall, so 7% there could amount to 20% over here from a single search term, if we managed to snatch that. I suppose this could be seasonal but still... I'll start a thread over there. Thanks, Acer (talk) 12:36, 26 July 2016 (UTC)

Akhfenir
[edit]You've moved the page on Akhfennir to Akhfenir (single n) and I wonder why. Though both spellings are valid and used, I rarely saw the spelling with a single n and even my roadmap of Morocco has it listed with double n (and, IIRC, road signs too). Google Maps knows it as Akhfennir, with double n, too (Jlg23 (talk) 15:29, 23 September 2016 (UTC))
- User:Jlg23 I was trying to add interwiki links and couldn't initially find the corresponding items in Wikidata or Wikipedia using "Akhfennir". I tried searching Google for Akhfennir and it recommended the single n spelling, which is also what En-Wikipedia uses so I assumed that's the usual way to spell it in English. But I have no preference, if the double n is also correct and you prefer that way, feel free to move it back. I normally would have asked before but since you hadn't edited since may I thought you might be inactive.
- PS: As far as I could tell Akhfenir is located in Morocco proper and not in the disputed Western Sahara region. I changed the first lines to reflect that. Acer (talk) 17:48, 23 September 2016 (UTC)
- OK, I've added the alternative spellings. If the redirect from Akhfennir is persistent it should be fine. Is there any authoritative source for "English transliterations of geographical names"? WRT southern Morocco vs West Sahara - I found different information in different sources but have not yet looked at the original contract that defined the division of Western Sahara. google maps says, the border is 20 km to the south, but the only road block in the area is 20km to the north but OTOH it's only police, not military.
