Status of Star nomination articles
[edit]Hi there. Thanks for helping with clean-up and status categorization. Please note that star nomination articles should not have the additional "guide" status template. The star nomination template already states that it is a guide and puts it into a special category between guide and star. If you put both templates, the article gets counted twice, in two columns at WV:Article status stats, so I have reverted some of the cases where you put both templates. Thanks! - Hi, ok no problem, but that’s very odd because then you lose the information about whether it’s a city, a region, a country, etc. Fractal (talk) 14:15, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
- That's true for both stubs and starnoms, but seeing as how they are temporary statuses and there are never many articles in those categories (there are 4 in each currently), I'm not sure it would really be worth it to split those categories by article type. Texugo (talk) 14:37, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
- Ok, but then I don’t see what’s wrong with having both guidecity and starnomination in an article, if you remove guidecity when nominating a city for star, that city will not be counted anymore in the "city" row at WV:Article status stats which is not very good either. What about adding guidesomething to all starnomination, outlinesomething to all stubs, and changing WV:Article status stats to count them only once? Fractal (talk) 14:46, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
- Well, my personal opinion is that stacking status boxes is fairly ugly and unnecessary. And while starnoms are technically at guide status, stub and outline status are two distinct things which should not be lumped together. If you are really concerned with the categories, you might start a discussion at Wikivoyage talk:Article status to separate the stub tag into {{stubcity}}, {stubregion}}, {{stubdistrict}}, etc. and the star nomination tag into {{starnomcity}}, {{starnomregion}}, {{starnomdistrict}}, etc. Texugo (talk) 15:18, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
Kudos
[edit]You've really hit the ground running and helped a lot! Were you previously on WT? Ikan Kekek (talk) 18:34, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks! No, I’m new on Wikivoyage and I wasn’t on Wikitravel either. Fractal (talk) 18:40, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
