To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.

If you are a Wikipedian, then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:

• NPOV → be fair (not quite the same thing!)
• be bold → plunge forward
• Village pump → travellers' pub
• External links → We do not use a separate external links section, but incorporate primary links only into the text itself.
• sandbox → graffiti wall
• stub tagging → article status

It may also be very useful for you to check out Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians. If you need help, take a look at Wikivoyage:Help, or else post a message in the Wikivoyage:Travellers' pub, as a reply below or on my talk page. Thanks for contributing!

Thanks for your enthusiasm, but the East Singhbhum article you started is not currently a Wikivoyage article at all. It lacks a Wikivoyage article template, is an orphan article that is not connected to the site's Wikivoyage:Breadcrumb navigation heirarchy, it has loads of encyclopedic information irrelevant to a travel guide, and it is out of keeping with Wikivoyage:Style in many ways.

All that said, there is definitely a fair amount of good and useful information in it. But Jharkhand really does not need to be divided into districts on Wikivoyage at this point, as the 12 cities listed in Jharkhand#Cities are not an overwhelming number. So could you please merge relevant information that is general into the Jharkhand article and put specific listings in articles for relevant cities (some of which you could start if there would be enough content to fulfill Wikivoyage:What is an article)? We are going to need to turn this district article into a redirect to Jharkhand at this point.

And before you start another article, please look at any of the articles in Category:Star articles, so that you get a feel for what a great Wikivoyage article looks like.

Certainly. But keep in mind that we have not agreed on having articles for regions in Jharkhand, so rather than a region article, East Singhbhum should at this point be a redirect to Jharkhand. If you create a large number of substantive city articles for cities in that state, you could propose a regional division at Talk:Jharkhand. Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:05, 27 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
