Bacacay is a municipality in Albay accessible via Legazpi-Tiwi coastal road and has a shoreline facing both Lagonoy Gulf and Albay Gulf. It is a fishing town with beaches, islands and caves.
Understand
[edit]
Bacacay is perhaps known for its beaches, and is nicknamed the "Beach City". It is composed of the mainland and island barangays, with black sand beaches on the mainland and white sand beaches on the island. The residents of the neighboring landlocked municipalities visit them during the summer seasons. Cagraray Island is known to the locals as ibong, a Bikol word which means the other side.
The numbered barangays 1 to 14 on the mainland is the town proper (Poblacion). The main highway is Magsaysay Avenue where you can find the public market and other business establishments, the Catholic Church and some government buildings and it leads to the municipal pier. Schools are just walking distance away from the public market.

Get in
[edit]By plane
[edit]The nearest airport is in Daraga (DRP IATA).
By bus
[edit]There are buses from Manila to Bacacay, stopping also at other towns and cities along the way, and there are also UV Express vans from Legazpi and jeepneys from Tabaco.
Barangay Bonga is the only barangay located alongside Legazpi-Tiwi coastal road where two seaward roads are leading to the town center. Jeepneys from the city of Tabaco traverse the Sogod-San Jose road while UV Express coming from the city of Legazpi traverse the Bonga-Hindi road. Barangays Hindi and Sogod are both coastal barangays.
Get around
[edit]Around the town center there are pedicabs while tricycles are available heading to the outlying barangays. Boats going to Cagraray island are found at the town's pier.
