New banner

I think this would make for a better banner. I don't really like the current banner because I think it looks a bit bland. I would just replace it right away, but I would like other people's opinions, in case if people prefer the current banner. AskMeAboutGalway! :) (talk) 15:43, 4 January 2026 (UTC)

- Indeed, rastor (inc. png/jpg) files cannot be enlarged without starting to look blurry and/or pixelated. Vector files can, but they're mainly used for things like maps or logos, not photos. //shb (t | c | m) 12:45, 6 January 2026 (UTC)

- I like Ground Zero's suggestion of banner 2, I hadn't spotted that image in my look-through of Commons.
- I still prefer my suggestion. I think the vibrant colours add a lot of interest, and I like the composition of the line formed by the people entering the boat. IMO most banners on Wikivoyage feel too dull and desaturated, although that's obviously a matter of taste. I also think my suggestion is more unique compared to other banners on Wikivoyage, there's lots of majestic landscapes, but comparatively few up-close scenes on human eye-level.
- I hope people might understand where I'm coming from. I definitely think Ground Zero's banner is an amazing landscape image, I'm just not sure it's the most unique.
- (Oh also, banner 3 is too low resolution, I don't think it's eligible. I understand the appeal, but sadly there's no similar images of a high enough resolution). AskMeAboutGalway! :) (talk) 11:42, 6 January 2026 (UTC)
