Are you planning to add any travel information to this article? At the moment, it doesn't tell the reader anything about what to see or do, or where to eat, drink or sleep, or even how to get there. It isn't a travel article, so it doesn't belong in Wikivoyage. I will delete it unless you tell me that are planning to improve it. Ground Zero (talk) 17:42, 13 September 2025 (UTC)
- I'm going to keep adding information, but it's going to take some time. If my upload is too slow while watching the process, please delete it. Choi Sangyeon (talk) 06:00, 15 September 2025 (UTC)
- We can wait for you to add content. There isn't a hurry for this. I will remove some of what you have added because Wikivoyage is not an encyclopedia. it is a travel guide. Please add information that a traveller would be looking for. Thank you. Ground Zero (talk) 11:58, 15 September 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for your kindness. As a resident of Wirye New Town here, I am well aware of the travel information here. I will try to revise it slowly. Thank you. Choi Sangyeon (talk) 01:27, 19 September 2025 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but you must merge its content and redirect to Seoul/Songpa, because no-one agreed to further subdivisions of agreed-upon Wikivoyage districts for Seoul. If you want to argue for a new Wikivoyage districting scheme for Seoul, you need to make a complete proposal at Talk:Seoul and try to gain a consensus for it. Don't expect it to be agreed to quickly, if it even is. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:23, 13 October 2025 (UTC)
- If there’s an issue with subdividing my document, please merge it into the “Seoul/Songpa-gu” page. However, I’d like to know if my previous edit history will remain intact. Thank you. Choi Sangyeon (talk) 01:31, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
- When articles are turned into redirects, their histories are intact. Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:34, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
- Can you please merge the content as relevant? Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:36, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, I apologize for the late reply. I’m currently working on a project as part of my university major practice, which involves creating a Wikivoyage article. Therefore, I fully understand that the article I created may not be suitable for Wikivoyage and may be lacking in quality. If my article cannot function independently, I believe it is natural for it to be merged into a higher-level category.
- However, I don’t know how to perform the merging process myself. So, I would appreciate it if you could help revise or merge my article. I’m just a bit concerned that my edit history might be deleted in the process, as my professor will evaluate my final grade based on my editing record.
- If my edit history won’t be affected, please feel free to delete my article and merge it into the higher category. I’m very sorry for the inconvenience and truly appreciate your understanding. Choi Sangyeon (talk) 03:00, 3 November 2025 (UTC)
- Merged articles are never deleted, and their histories remain intact. The relevant content is moved and the article is turned into a redirect. The problem with telling someone not familiar with Wirye New Town to merge the relevant content is that we don't know where in the target article to put it. Ikan Kekek (talk) 03:47, 3 November 2025 (UTC)
- You're right — this is a tricky case. The reason is that Wirye New Town is a region that straddles both Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. If the articles were to be merged, it would need to fall under three categories: Songpa-gu, Seoul; Hanam, Gyeonggi; and Seongnam, Gyeonggi. Individual cafés or restaurants can be categorized based on their specific addresses, but the Wirye New Town area itself belongs to both Seoul and Gyeonggi Province at the same time.
- If it’s too complicated and sensitive to merge the article into a higher-level category right now, could you give me until December? I’m planning to continue adding and updating information on this page for my major project. However, if the article still causes issues after my class project is finished, I’ll delete it entirely myself. Choi Sangyeon (talk) 04:11, 3 November 2025 (UTC)
- Don't delete any information. The reason I said it had to be merged and redirected to Seoul/Songpa is that the article says "Wirye (위례, 慰禮) includes part of Jangji-dong and Geoyeo-dong in Songpa-gu, Seoul." But now that you have explained the situation more fully, my question is how you think Wirye New Town can best fit into Wikivoyage's WV:Breadcrumb navigation structure. Ikan Kekek (talk) 23:39, 3 November 2025 (UTC)
- Here’s a concise, natural English version you could post on a Wikivoyage talk page:
- ----
- Proposal: Keep Wirye New Town as a separate article
- I suggest that Wirye New Town should remain a standalone article within Wikivoyage’s breadcrumb hierarchy, rather than being merged into Seoul/Songpa.
- Although Wirye is administratively divided among Songpa-gu (Seoul), Seongnam, and Hanam, it functions as a single urban and living area from a traveler’s perspective. The neighborhoods are seamlessly connected, sharing the same urban planning, infrastructure, and transport system (e.g., Wirye Line and Wirye Central Station).
- Under this approach, the breadcrumb structure could be organized as:
- South Korea → Seoul → Southeast Seoul → Wirye New Town
- Each relevant regional article (Seoul/Songpa, Seongnam, and Hanam) could include a short note linking to the Wirye New Town page, clarifying that part of each jurisdiction belongs to Wirye.
- This structure would improve navigability and reflect how travelers actually experience the area, while maintaining administrative accuracy through contextual notes and links. Choi Sangyeon (talk) 23:51, 3 November 2025 (UTC)
- Could you please make that proposal on Talk:Seoul and link this page? Ikan Kekek (talk) 00:27, 4 November 2025 (UTC)
- So, why are you adding more to that article instead of making the proposal I suggested and trying to gain a consensus behind it? Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:56, 17 November 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, I heard that it’s possible to move an article to a user space— is that correct? I’m working on this page for a university project, so even if I finish it, I’m not sure it will fully meet Wikivoyage’s standards. But I’d still like to preserve the work I’ve done so far. Could you please move my “Wirye New Town” article to my user space? I’m not familiar with how to do it myself. I think that would solve all the issues, and honestly, this situation has been difficult for me as well. Choi Sangyeon (talk) 00:08, 19 November 2025 (UTC)
Done – it's now at User:Choi Sangyeon/Wirye New Town. //shb (t | c | m) 00:15, 19 November 2025 (UTC)
