    Hello, Dudewithafez! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. New users are also welcome to post any questions or concerns to the arrivals lounge. If you want some practice editing, please do so on our graffiti wall. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. If you want to contribute with information about the place where you live, see Wikivoyage:Welcome, locals.

Thanks for adding the names of some clubs, but you could make the listings a lot more helpful to readers by using Wikivoyage:Listings templates and adding contact and location information. Would you please do that? Thanks very much, and all the best! Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:19, 27 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Ikan Kekek, after implementing the project that we spoke in Talk:Istanbul, I will be employing a en-masse maintenance to Istanbul and its related articles. I'll correct them in that phase. Dudewithafez (talk) 15:13, 27 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

    Wonderful! Ikan Kekek (talk) 18:51, 27 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

    Unilateral pagebanner changes

    [edit]

Maybe you didn't know, but those are against Wikivoyage guidelines and need to be reverted immediately, pending a discussion. I also believe that you violated Wikivoyage guidelines or at least practices on what a consensus is in changing the Istanbul banner. And definitely don't make any other unilateral pagebanner changes! Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:45, 12 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Ikan Kekek. I have started to re-work on Istanbul-related information as explained in Istanbul's talkpage. And per my intentions explained; I was merely doing improvements, starting with the banners. As you can also clearly see, the new banners actually do represent the respective pages even better than the previous ones.Dudewithafez (talk) 22:40, 12 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Doesn't matter. A consensus has to agree that the proposed new banners are improvements. You of course have total license to put whatever banners you like in new articles or articles that have only the default banner files on them. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:59, 12 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Essentially Constantinople of the Romans, Byzantines, and Ottomans, this is the walled inner city, with most of the famous historical sights of Istanbul.
      Galata
Once a colony of various European nations, mostly non-Muslim populated district of Ottoman Istanbul. With Beyoğlu in its core, İstiklal Avenue is perhaps the best-known street, and Taksim Square is perhaps the most central point in the city life.

From Beşiktaş to Sarıyer, it covers the European bank of the Bosphorus, lined by numerous palaces, parks, waterfront mansions, and bohemian neighborhoods.
      Golden Horn
The banks of the Golden Horn, the estuary that separates the European side into distinctive areas. Eyüpsultan holding on tightly to its Ottoman, and Islamic heritage is the highlight whilst Balat blends in the Christiian heritage.

The region that encompasses the main business district of the city - Levent as well as home to luxury neighborhoods as Etiler and designer fashion outlets in areas such as Nişantaşı.
      Western Suburbs

      Asian Bosphorus
From Üsküdar to Beykoz, it covers the Asian bank of the Bosphorus from, lined by numerous palaces, parks, waterfront mansions, and bohemian neighborhoods.
      Kadıköy
The local's favorite. The most vibrant district on Istanbul’s Asian side, if not on both sides. Known for its rich cultural scene, lively nightlife, historic roots, and a unique blend of bohemian and modern urban life.
      Princes' Islands
An excellent getaway from the city, this is an archipelago of car-free islands of various sizes, with splendid wooden mansions, verdant pine forests and nice views: not only on the islands, but also on the way there.
      Eastern Suburbs
Mostly residential region of the Asian side. The coastal areas like Maltepe tend to have more historicity whilst inner areas like Ataşehir tend to have a modern accent.
      Şile
A picturesque coastal district on Istanbul’s Black Sea shore, known for its sandy beaches, summer resorts, and tranquil atmosphere, making it a popular getaway for city dwellers.
