Answer to your edit summary: No. Don't you understand that to be kosher, prepared food must be certified and prepped, cooked and served on/with kosher dishware and silverware? Not certified means not kosher. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:47, 8 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Per this link you added in your edit summary when you refactored one of my changes to Kashrut, a mikvah (religious bath) does not appear to be the only way to kosher utensils and equipment. Faster than Thunder (talk) 22:53, 8 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
You were the only one who talked about the alleged need for a mikvah for kashering. The idea that it's necessary has nothing to do with any point I ever made to you, and that's not at all how anyone I know has kashered any utensils, dishware or ovens. Filipino cuisine

    [edit]

Please stop editing articles when you've already admitted you're unfamiliar with the culture. Basically everybody in the Philippines speaks basic English, so you don't need to learn "Filipino" (which doesn't really exist, it's Tagalog). You are absolutely not going to find anything even close to a Western "salad" in a Filipino restaurant, and if you do find raw vegetables, they're served with shrimp paste on the side or already mixed in.

This is the second time you've been warned specifically about the Philippines, and you're wrecking ignorant havoc on kosher content as well. Cease and desist, or the next step will be a user ban. Asamboi (talk) 08:13, 13 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Asamboi, I've stopped directly adding kosher content to articles, so I'm disagreeing with the last part of your message. The last time I directly added controversial kosher content was at least a few weeks ago. My proposed additions are starting to acknowledge that certified food is usually still difficult to find even when uncertified food is easy to find. I made my last controversial Philippines-related edit literally 1 week ago. Faster than Thunder (talk) 20:10, 13 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

    Topic ban proposal

    [edit]

    You've been nominated for a topic ban from all food-related articles at Wikivoyage:User ban nominations#Faster than Thunder. Feel free to contribute to that discussion. //shb (t | c | m) 08:57, 13 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

    Appeal

    [edit]

@SHB2000, @Asamboi: My direct edits related to Filipino and kosher food were invalid because they are actually false or they are not supportable by reliable sources (I "hallucinated"). If I am to suggest any further kashrut-related edits, they will show that certification actually matters for a lot of observers. I now realize that there is a difference between following most kashrut principles inadvertently and actually being kosher-certified. For example, pure veg restaurants in India inadvertently follow kashrut principles, and virtually the one and only kosher barrier in most of India is the lack of certification, even of the ubiquitous establishments that are otherwise kosher, because the Indians have long traditions of ritual purity, although rarely aspiring to Jewish standards. I will use terms like "depending on your level of observance" in kashrut-related proposals. I will never directly edit articles relating to topics I have no first-hand experience with (i.e. the Philippines) and instead will propose changes on the appropriate talk page so that they can gain feedback, objections, confirmation, etc. from other users. For example, if I want to introduce the fact that plant-forward food is actually on the rise in the Philippines (ask for no patis or bagoong), I will propose the changes with supporting evidence on the appropriate talk pages instead of actually editing the pages myself. Otherwise, I will only directly edit articles about things I actually have first-hand experience with, even if I think I am familiar with a place I have never actually visited. The fundamental problem is that you are editing regarding topics you are not familiar with. You cannot work your way around this with "careful research" and whatnot.
If you want to contribute to Wikivoyage, please create a track record of useful, factually correct edits about things you actually have first-hand experience with. Asamboi (talk) 00:26, 22 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
To clarify, I come from Wikipedia, and I ended up in these problems partly because Wikipedia is my home wiki. Wikipedia is to reliable sources as Wikivoyage is to first-hand experience. I can guarantee that misunderstandings are why well-meaning Wikipedians could end up in situations like mine, so there should be a template like Template:Uw-Wikipedia for this. Faster than Thunder (talk) 00:40, 22 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
I'm unfamiliar with that template, but there is Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:48, 22 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
