    Hello, Feuermond16! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here.--ϒpsilon (talk) 17:51, 28 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hallo Feuermond16, auch von meiner Seite herzlich willkommen!
Thanks for your edits to Kassel. It is good to see contributions and updates from a local specialist. Danapit (talk) 21:17, 21 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

    Germany expedition

    [edit]

    Hi.

You seem to have some knowledge on German destinations. Maybe you would wish to contribute to our Germany Expedition? If no, that's fine too. Best wishes. Hobbitschuster (talk) 19:52, 6 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, but my idea was just to complete the articel about Kassel until the next documenta starts, so that the english wikivoyage can use it as destination of the month. -- Feuermond16 (talk) 20:28, 6 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
That's fine too, though from my experience, DotM (or in this case I'd suggest an "off the beaten path" nomination) nominations tend to take some time and start out by many votes of "not yet" which list what precisely needs fixing. Given that the next Documenta is more than a year away, there is some time left, but not as much as it might seem on the face of it, as the schedule is often worked out quite far in advance. North Hesse

    [edit]

Hi, I notices you have removed some locations from North Hesse page, making a number of orphans. I know we have stretched the definition of what is North part of the state a little but it was done to remove lots of small regions. Could you please explain your ideas on restructuring the regions on Talk:Hesse. --Traveler100 (talk) 19:58, 6 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

North Hesse is now a region with only four articles, one of which was only created today! Note that English Wikivoyage does not always work on administrative areas. Maybe a better name for the region is the way to go, any suggestions? --Traveler100 (talk) 20:06, 6 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
We should have a debate on the regions that end with clearly defined regions of a reasonable size and number and a clear cut map. Hobbitschuster (talk) 20:24, 6 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
The best solution would be to split Hesse into North Hesse (Kassel/Korbach), East Hesse (Bad Hersfeld/Fulda), Middle Hesse (Marburg/Gießen), Frankfurt Rhine-Main (Frankfurt/Wiesbaden) and South Hesse (Darmstadt/Michelstadt). See also this weather map. The idea to say that East Hesse is a part of North Hesse is simply wrong. I understand that it would be much easier to group Hesse in only two or three regions, but everybody understands with North Hesse only a special area. The same with the other four regions. And there are not administrative areas, but touristic areas. -- Feuermond16 (talk) 20:25, 6 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
Please raise that at talk:Hesse in order to have the discussion at one place. Hobbitschuster (talk) 20:32, 6 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
    I will think about the whole issue. -- Feuermond16 (talk) 21:56, 6 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Just a quick reminder on Kassel

    [edit]

If I recall correctly, you wanted to get Kassel featured for the next Documenta. If you have a quick look over here you will notice that the Destination of the Month schedule for 2016 is (tentatively) almost full already. So I'd advise you to put the nomination up for consideration before the end of the month, lest you be too late. Hobbitschuster (talk) 18:34, 3 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

The documenta in Kassel is from 10.6 to 17.9.2017, the documenta in Athens from 8.4 to 16.7.2017. On the underside you linked I saw only a schedule with proposals until August 2016 and only on article in the section Nominations for May 2017. By the way, how good is the article about Athens at the moment? It's in the category usable article, so it could also a candidate for a destination of the month. But I think the article is not "up-to-date". -- Feuermond16 (talk) 20:23, 3 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Nominees have to be guide or better at the time of featuring. And there has been (in the case of Eurovision Song Contest hosts) objection to making the same event grounds for featuring more than once. And if we take ruta del transito as an example, it was proposed in August and is featured now... But yeah, 2017 is probably not that far away, And the schedule at the top of the page does not necessarily contain all those that may be featured and are nominated already (the whole thing can be a bit confusing at times)... Hobbitschuster (talk) 20:53, 3 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Hobbitschuster: I have a little question: Are there special colour types for the pois? For example parks, museums, churches, works of art, or are you using "stellblue/see" at every time? -- Feuermond16 (talk) 11:16, 5 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
The listings have a color according to the type (i.e. see, do, go etc.) We don't have separate colors for subtypes (e.g. a church versus a museum). If you'd like to change that, bring it up in the pub Hobbitschuster (talk) 16:27, 5 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
As a rule of thumb, articles are in practice nominated some 7-9 months before they go on the Main Page. And yes, the article has to be at guide status to be nominated. ϒpsilon (talk) 19:19, 5 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
    [edit]

Have a look at Wikivoyage:Destination of the month candidates - for some reason there have been quite a number of nominations in the last week or so. Many of them seem to be a lock for 2017 already. Given that Kassel will probably require some effort and you can include the exact month of 2017 in the "time to feature" line, I think it is not a bad idea to nominate already, as these nominations tend to draw eyeballs and people will point you/us to the specific issues to be fixed first... Best wishes Hobbitschuster (talk) 13:45, 27 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hmm, there are still a couple of things I'd wish to see fixed in the article; please see my (and Hobbitschuster's) comments at Talk:Kassel. Wikipedia says the event takes place from 10 June to 17 September, therefore June would be the optimal month for Kassel, I believe. There's still no panic, though the article should better be ready sometime in the autumn to be absolutely sure there's room for it in June. ϒpsilon (talk) 17:22, 19 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

    Deletions?

    [edit]

Hello. Did you plan on permanently deleting two museum listings, or are you planning to put the listings back somewhere? Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:30, 19 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

I think the Straßenbahnmuseum closed. The other museum (Fuldaschifffahrt) ist not interesting for tourists and not destinated in the city. Tourists don't go to this area. The two new museums opened again last autumn and are much bigger. The chance to get there an english spoken guided tour is much higher. Sorry for the bad english, I had problems with the autokorrection actually. -- Feuermond16 (talk) 22:43, 19 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
Not a problem. If one of the museums closed and the other one is not in the city, those are good reasons to delete the listings. I'm not sure "not interesting for tourists" is a good reason, though; I'd be careful about assuming that our readers aren't interested in a museum about ship travel and that none of them can read German.
