Car crashes in India and who this site serves

[edit]

Hello and welcome! I was disturbed by your attempt to censor information about car crashes in India on the basis that sharing such information would "discourage tourism". You may have a misconception about the purpose of Wikivoyage. It exists not to serve the tourism industry but to serve the traveller: see Wikivoyage:The traveller comes first. Do not now try to censor information about sexual assault in India on a similar basis. India is a fantastic country to visit with some truly unparalleled attractions, but the entire point of "Stay safe" sections is to inform travellers and prospective travellers about threats to their safety that are different or greater than they might assume, so that they can choose whether to disregard the warnings, take steps to minimize the risks, or avoid the destination in question. Contrary to the language in every tourism brochure, no destination is for everyone, and that's OK. We just inform and let readers make their own decisions. I'm sorry. I don't often edit here. So I am used to editing English Wikipedia so we are used to a different set of customs. No one is perfect, remember you are most welcome to revert and give feedback. I thought if it was a car crash it does not make it useful. It's like me editing the Perth article, and encouraging a motorist to crash their car just for this. Social media and clout usually people do that. As said, you are welcome to revert my edits anytime its required. LuvsMG481 (talk) 15:17, 14 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
You don't need to tell me I'm welcome to revert your edits; I've been editing this site since something like 2004 or 2005 (and as a registered user since 2006), and the edits I'm discussing were already reverted by someone else. But that's not the point. The point is, I wanted you to understand why they were reverted and what this site is about. But I really don't understand what you're talking about in your second to last sentence. No-one on this site is encouraging motorists to crash! Ikan Kekek (talk) 15:31, 14 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
I wish the users on Enwiki and Commons had that mindset. I have been reverted loads of times and they don't give me the feedback you give. Yeah I know, and of course i can't assume ownership of articles (that'd be a straight-up block). Always open to feedback. LuvsMG481 (talk) 15:33, 14 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Great! Enjoy the rest of your day, and carry on! Ikan Kekek (talk) 15:35, 14 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Image policy

[edit]

Please stop the blanket removal of images: you are both misreading Wikivoyage:Image policy and wildly overreacting. As a rule of thumb, if an image is permitted on Wikimedia Commons, it's permitted here as well, and you should not be deleting them. Asamboi (talk) 00:21, 15 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

This applies to galleries as well, which are explicitly permitted for purposes like documenting food, fauna, etc. What we don't want is 15 pictures of the Eiffel Tower. Asamboi (talk) 00:21, 15 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
I've responded on your RFC relating to this. Thank you for bringing this up. LuvsMG481 (talk) 00:49, 15 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
