    Listing templates

    [edit]

Thanks for using listing templates, but please don't delete unused fields from them. For "Eat" templates, just click the knife-and-spoon icon 5 icons to the right of the word "Listings" above your edit screen when you're editing a page. Leave the empty fields empty; some of them might be added to later. Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:25, 5 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

sorry but i'm not aware of doing such thing. Perhaps i do it by mistake. Can you tell me where have you noticed such behavior? Mmorell (talk) 10:31, 5 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
I've been reviewing the page and I will need some help on how to change that. I'm really new and i don't even fully understand what i've done wrong. I went to Mataro page where you made the changes, and i'm not even been able to find deleted fields. I click on eat items and a form opens with all the fields. Some of them empty. Mmorell (talk) 10:48, 5 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'm sure it's a mistake. It's not the biggest deal, just something to keep in mind. Here's an example of where you deleted unused fields. I understand why in that case, but the complete "Do" template looks like this:

    * {{do | name= | alt= | url= | email= | address= | lat= | long= | directions= | phone= | tollfree= | hours= | price= | wikidata= | lastedit=2023-08-05 | content= }}

It's best to just leave irrelevant fields blank. Ikan Kekek (talk) 15:56, 5 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Ok. After looking around, it looks like you used the source view when editing. I used the Visual view. The source view is like code and I didn’t use it to avoid messing things around. But it seems that I did anyway. If visual editing is not the way I’ll probably stop editing. Too complex. I’ll try a little more. Mmorell (talk) 18:36, 5 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Don't stop editing. If it's too much trouble to use all the fields, just leave that for someone else to take care of. The most important thing is to provide information. Ikan Kekek (talk) 00:08, 6 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

    Wikidata

    [edit]

Thanks for pointing out the correct Wikidata for Poblet Natural Park. I wasn't able to find it earlier, but I agree that it's better to have Wikivoyage and Wikidata line up exactly. --Comment by Selfie City (talk) (contributions) 17:35, 20 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

i just posted in your page. please wait until I finish editing all links to poblet before adding. Mmorell (talk) 17:43, 20 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I responded — don't worry, feel free to go ahead and edit! --Comment by Selfie City (talk) (contributions) 18:23, 20 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

    902 numbers

    [edit]

Falset is now back in Category:Listing with phone format issue and Category:Listing with phone missing country code.

Montblanc and some other pages have some 902 numbers listed with the +34 prefix incorrectly added.

Once a solution has been found for Falset, it can be applied on the other pages. -- 89.241.66.102 16:53, 17 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

    Full list of WV pages containing "34 902": https://en.wikivoyage.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Search&limit=500&ns0=1&search=%2234+902%22. -- 89.241.66.102 19:26, 17 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
The solution is simple. See today's edit to Falset. This format can be rolled out to all of the 902 numbers listed in the above search. -- 89.241.66.102 11:58, 20 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
you can check the rule here: https://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Spain#Phone_numbers
if you are able to to that mass edit please add after the number: "(Domestic)"
    i.e. rather than "+34 902 123 456" should appear "902 123 456 (Domestic)" Mmorell (talk) 13:01, 22 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately, those 64 pages will have to be edited one at a time by hand. It's a good opportunity to fix all of the style/wikicode errors on each page at the same time. -- 89.241.66.195 23:31, 24 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

    Region articles

    [edit]

Hello Mmorell Region articles should not have detailed listings for points of interest, restaurants, shops, or hotels. Wikivoyage:Region article template says:

"Individual listings should be placed at the lowest available level of local page (a district of a huge city or the city page for a small town)."
"points of interest (such as those mentioned in "See" sections) should not usually have markers in region articles but should be linked to the bottom-level article where they have full listings."

I have reverted your edits to Saône-et-Loire. Ground Zero (talk) 11:55, 28 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

I've put them on a listing because they are in so small villages that they do not have a page, and perhaps never will. And, in my understanding, is useful see where they are located in the map. I'm planning a trip on this area and I find it useful.
I know the rule, but it says : "...should not USUALLY... " and I thought that this can be the case. Especially for the Cluny abbey, perhaps the rest are not worth of it. Mmorell (talk) 12:11, 28 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
It is better to put the listings in the headrest town because travellers will have to travel from somewhere to get to the villages. The description in the region article should link to the article the listing is in. (I will add an example of this to the article.) This ussue occurs in most region articles; Saône-et-Loire is not unique in this regard. Ground Zero (talk) 12:21, 28 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
I handled the rest in a similar way. I prefer a link from the name of the attraction directly to the listing, but followed the example here, where the link indeed lead to the listing, but with somewhat confusing link text (the article name).
A problem with having listings in the region articles, is that it gives then undue prominence; usually the listings in places not worth an article are anything but the main attractions of the region. For Château de Germolles, I created Chalon-sur-Saône, which actually seems to be the biggest city of the department. Tournus should probably also have an article; although it is quite small, it is some 25 km from its neighbours, so with a sight and some kind of watering hole, it would be worthwhile for those passing by along the Autoroute de Soleil or on their way to the Taizé Community. w:fr:Tournus says there are several hotels here, and two Michelin-starred restaurants. –LPfi (talk) 08:37, 30 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
