I'm not sure whether Jinan airport should be on this page? Jinan airport is covered on the page for Jinan. —The preceding comment was added by XierZhanmusi (talkcontribs)

"You can fly to Jinan and take the bus to Laiwu" is enough; adding a listing is overkill. I went ahead and took care of that for you. -- AndreCarrotflower (talk) 05:39, 28 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

    Too much history?

    [edit]

Laiwu#History seems to me to have far more detail than is needed in a travel guide. If it were up to me, I'd delete the whole section and just add a note in the introduction that the town may also be called "Yingmou"; to me that appears to be the only useful information in the section. However, it is not up to me & I don't know the area so I'll ask here instead.

I think the history section ought to be at least somewhat interesting and should try to connect the past with what the traveller can see and experience in the present. Currently, however, the history section is very boring and mainly focuses on administrative changes. I concur that it should be rewritten. STW932 (talk) 14:59, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

    Delete a section?

    [edit]

It looks to me like Laiwu#City_honor contains no information of use or interest to travellers, so I want to delete the whole section. On the other hand, articles like Xiamen & Quanzhou do mention awards those cities have won.

I support deleting the "City honor" section as it is not a standard section header on top of the reasons you've given, though I wouldn't mind if those awards were moved to "Understand". SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 07:56, 10 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
    I removed it. Ikan Kekek (talk) 17:26, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

    Lost city status

    [edit]

Wikipedia says: "Since the 1st January, 2019, Laiwu was merged into Jinan which is the capital city of Shandong province, and is no longer a prefecture-level city any more." How would this affect the article? Twsabin (talk) 17:41, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Jinan article is big, with many listings. Maybe Jinan should be converted to a huge city like Dalian? Twsabin (talk) 17:56, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
A proposal should be made at Talk:Jinan. I agree: it is a big, information-laden article, but the key point would be which and how many districts we should use, where the exact boundaries would be, and about how many listings in total each district article would have. Some huge cities like Karachi are not districted on Wikivoyage because almost all the points of interest are in the city centre. Ikan Kekek (talk) 18:56, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the guidance, I'll do some research, and if it looks like there could be at least three decent district articles, I'll post the proposal. Twsabin (talk) 20:25, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Just to clarify, in case of any ambiguity: when a city is districted, the entire city has to be divided into districts. We can't have a city only partly districted. Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:27, 8 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Tourists say about places to eat and stay?

    [edit]

I don't think it's possible to know how much this place is loved by tourists without the subjective evaluation of tourists. MAYUXUAN (talk) 06:08, 14 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

    Regional division

    [edit]

Since January 1, 2019, Laiwu has been merged into Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province, and is no longer a prefecture level city. However, I don't think the articles in Laiwu can be completely integrated into Jinan, which will make the articles in Jinan too complicated. It even takes two hours to drive from the center of Jinan to Laiwu. I think Laiwu is a place suitable for independent play, not suitable for merging into Jinan. There is currently a discussion about this on Talk:Jinan. STW932 (talk) 07:38, 14 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

    Formatting

    [edit]

Thank you to contributors who have expanded and improved this article. I have made some changes to bring this in line with Wikivoyage:Manual of style:

    • This article is about Laiwu, and the first paragraph tells the reader that Laiwu is in Jinan, Shandong. We don't have to add "Jinan, Shandong" to every address. (If a listing is not in Jinan, then we indicate that.)
    • The "directions" field in a listing template puts the directions in parentheses () after the address, so this should be formatted as part of a sentence, not as a sentence or sentences on its own.
    • when we write a range of prices, we write "¥10,000-15,000", not "¥10,000-¥15,000", i.e., ¥ only at the beginning, and not in front of each price. See wv:$.

Ground Zero, what did you mean on the range of prices? Both are the same. Ikan Kekek (talk) 15:51, 16 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Ikan KekekThe currency symbol shouldn't repeat on both ends of the range. It's a little hard to notice... Twsabin (talk) 16:49, 16 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
    Oh, I didn't notice that. Right. Ikan Kekek (talk) 17:15, 16 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
    I've added some clarification. Ground Zero (talk) 17:37, 16 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your suggestion. I'll revise it later Hanruixuan1 (talk) 05:42, 25 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
