Hello, Ftrebien! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. New users are also welcome to post any questions or concerns to the arrivals lounge. If you want some practice editing, please do so on our graffiti wall. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. If you want to contribute with information about the place where you live, see Wikivoyage:Welcome, locals.
Also, sorry about the revert to Rio de Janiero. I didn't pay attention to the link properly, hence my self revert.
All the best,

- @SHB2000: It's alright. I'm from Porto Alegre, and I'm a Wikipedian and OpenStreetMapper and long time user of Wikivoyage, I just didn't have time to create a user page here. I'm impressed that no one has added this information to the guide yet. Once I was in Rio, there was this guy from the UK who was shocked when I told him he had unknowingly bathed in a polluted beach, so I hope this helps reduce that kind of situation. Unfortunately, the government page does not have an English translation, so the guide can try to help the situation by telling the reader how to navigate through it. The problem exists along the entire coast of the country, from north to south. --Ftrebien (talk) 14:20, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for all the contributions you've made so far. AFAIK, Ibaman is from Brazil, although I'm not sure where in Brazil they're from. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 21:14, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
- He lives in Brasilia. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:49, 11 October 2021 (UTC)

Hello again, and thanks for continuing to add content to this site! Where content is put is a secondary but nonetheless important issue, and because Shanghai is a huge city that has several district articles, listings for shopping centres and so on need to be only in district articles. You can mention the shopping centres in a summary of shopping opportunities in Shanghai#Buy, with a link to the "Buy" sections of relevant districts, but please remove full listings from the article for the entire city, and thanks!
Best,
Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:40, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Ikan Kekek: Hello Ikan. I'm not entirely sure what you are asking, could you clarify? In the Shanghai article, all I did was fix a typo in an existing mall listing in the Buy section and update an existing consulate listing in the Cope section. --Ftrebien (talk) 17:08, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- OK, I was under the misimpression that you added templated listings in the Shanghai article, but on a closer look, it's exactly as you describe. Ikan Kekek (talk) 03:42, 28 September 2025 (UTC)
Temporary account IP viewer
[edit]Hello, Ftrebien.
A recent change now means that all IP addresses are no longer visible to most ordinary users. However, as per WMF policy, any user who has made at least 300 edits with an account older than 6 months may request the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) permission to view IP addresses of all temporary accounts for up to 90 days. You are receiving this mass message because your account is autopatrolled, or has patroller and/or template editor permissions, and have over 300 edits, and thus are likely eligible to request this permission.
Guidelines surrounding the use of the tool can be found at Wikivoyage:Temporary account IP viewer; if granted, you must also accept the WMF policy in your preferences.
TAIV permissions can be requested at Wikivoyage:Temporary account IP viewer/Requests, or on any admin's talk page.
