To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. New users are also welcome to post any questions or concerns to the arrivals lounge. If you want some practice editing, please do so on our graffiti wall. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. If you want to contribute with information about the place where you live, see Wikivoyage:Welcome, locals. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 13:14, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
Please concentrate on adding relevant information for travelers
[edit]Kashere has some useful information in it. I realize you are participating in a contest that unfortunately measures the number of articles you've created, not the usefulness of the articles, but I would hope you would add similar and a greater amount of useful information to every article you start, rather than starting lots of articles with almost no information in them and no way for a reader to know whether the places are worth visiting. I'm also glad you're adding useful information to existing articles, such as the one about Gombe - that's great!
All the best,
Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:47, 8 May 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you very much. I will check out for Kashere and I will also add more contents to the ones I have created too as soon as possible. Ibjaja055 (talk) 06:57, 8 May 2022 (UTC)
- Wonderful! I will also mention that the geocoordinates for cities are best not mentioned in "Understand" but included at the end. When you start an article about a city or town, copy Wikivoyage:Quick small city article template and fill information into the various sections. "geo" should be in a format like xx.xxxx, with no degree symbols but with a - if necessary. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:04, 8 May 2022 (UTC)
- Wao! Thank you so much for this information. I have been looking for a way to get that template. Also, I am not aware of any wikivoyage contest in Nigeria. I just want to add more quality content to wikivoyage but most of the information are very difficult to get. But with your guidance, I hope to do better. Ibjaja055 (talk) 07:09, 8 May 2022 (UTC)
- You're welcome! I think the contest is not only on Wikivoyage right now. But anyway, again, welcome, and thanks! Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:13, 8 May 2022 (UTC)
- re "I am not aware of any wikivoyage contest in Nigeria. I just want to add more quality content to wikivoyage but most of the information are very difficult to get.": then what is m:Nigerian Cuisine which I see your username on?
- Anyway, in future, please use the standard outline template. When starting a new page, click the "City" or "Park" on the header. This will automatically preload the page with the standard section headers and required templates, so other users don't need to later insert them in. Anyway, thank you for your contributions to Nigeria articles :-). SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 08:38, 8 May 2022 (UTC)
- it has to do with foods, competition on food. I registered to participate in the Training and I don't think I have written anything on food so far. As you can see that I am following the template you gave to me on wikivoyage. You can check Kaltungo on wikivoyage Ibjaja055 (talk) 08:44, 8 May 2022 (UTC)
- City or park on the header. Can you explain more? Ibjaja055 (talk) 08:45, 8 May 2022 (UTC)
- When you create a new page, you should get a screen somewhat like what you see on the image on the right, except the "Creating xxx" line would be whatever the name of the page you'd be creating. There's also a line with City/town • City district • Rural area • Region • National Park and so on. Just click on those links, and it should prefill the article with the required section headers. Let me know if you need any further help. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 09:07, 8 May 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you Ibjaja055 (talk) 09:12, 8 May 2022 (UTC)
