Alternative banner for this article?
[edit]
- Douglas Adams wrote, “It can hardly be a coincidence that no language on Earth has ever produced the expression 'as pretty as an airport'", and these pictures are proof of that. But I prefer the new banner. Ground Zero (talk) 17:50, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
- New banner. It's just better. --Nelson Ricardo (talk) 02:49, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
- Comment: I have trouble supporting the new banner, because it's hazy and not pleasant for my eyes. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:12, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
- A third choice: Ground Zero (talk) 11:45, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
- I prefer the third banner. /Yvwv (talk) 16:46, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
- When the article was first written it used "banner 4", but it was removed as it featured a venue logo. However, I definitely prefer it to the options, and would consider it "illustrative of the type of business establishment in a certain region, or those of exceptionally famous establishments", and thus a legitimate exception from the WV:IP. MartinJacobson (talk) 17:14, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, a hostel inside a converted 747 is unique, and #4 is clearly IMO the best banner. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:58, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
- #4 is unique, but it's not about the airport. Only a very, very few people passing through the airport will go to this hostel. I prefer #3, then the new banner, then the existing banner. Ground Zero (talk) 23:32, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
- I created the hostel banner. But as Wikivoyage's policies have developed during the years, it would currently be considered as touting. Banners for a destination should not promote a specific business. /Yvwv (talk) 23:48, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
- I don't agree with you (although I definitely take Ground Zero's point above). On the same basis that we make exceptions for photos of businesses that are iconic, we can make exceptions for banners of businesses that are iconic. And wouldn't any banner for a resort like Disneyworld be in that sense promotional? Ikan Kekek (talk) 00:14, 15 March 2021 (UTC)

ויקיג'אנקי I think the consensus here is for banner 3, not the "Suggested new alternative banner". Ground Zero (talk) 02:17, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
- I made a mistake... according to my new "head count" we seem to have an EVEN count for all three alternative options:
- (1) Me and Nelson Ricardo - in favor of option 2
- (2) Yvwv and Ground Zero - in favor of option 3
- (3) MartinJacobson and Ikan Kekek - in favor of option 4
- Seems like we need more votes to determine this one. ויקיג'אנקי (talk) 15:20, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
- I was also mistaken in concluding that there was a consensus for banner 3. Thanks for soliciting more votes on this. Ground Zero (talk) 16:17, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
- I invited three different users that participated in other banner discussions to help lead us to a final decision. Let's wait another week and see what is determined by then. ויקיג'אנקי (talk) 16:40, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

- I don't mind hugely, but as a tie-break, option 3.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 15:31, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
- Banner 3 Banner 4 is used on Hostels. AlasdairW (talk) 22:14, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
- I like #3 and #4 but if #4 is already used on another article then #3 it is. Gizza (roam) 22:36, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
- Banner 3 SHB2000 (talk) 06:28, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
ויקיג'אנקי do you agree that there is now consensus for banner 3? Ground Zero (talk) 12:41, 3 April 2021 (UTC)
