Your Signature

[edit]

Hello, would you be willing to update your signature? The use of the depreciated/obsolete font tag is no longer recommended as they are not HTML5 compliant and obsolete tags are one of the tracked syntax issues here on Wikivoyage that I've been cleaning up these past few weeks.

The following is an HTML5 compliant equivalent to your current signature: [[User:DaGizza|<span style="color:teal">Gizza</span>]] (<i>[[User_talk:DaGizza|<span style="color:teal">roam</span>]]</i>) and displays as this: Gizza (roam)
Thanks and best wishes, Zinnober9 (talk) 17:07, 23 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Zinnober9: I've updated my signature accordingly. Gizza (roam) 00:11, 24 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Airport listings in state articles

[edit]

Hi. Thanks for updating such a listing, but I think you can really help more by eliminating such listings, such as I did in this edit. At least in my opinion, complete templated listings for airports should exist in only one article - the article for the city they mainly serve, so in this case, Sokoto#By plane, which is a section of the Sokoto City article. But at any rate, there certainly shouldn't be any complete listings in state articles of anything better covered in a city article. Binji#By plane is an example of the chronic problem in Nigeria articles of templated listings for every airport within 450 km, with irrelevant information about distances from other cities.

All the best,

Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:32, 21 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Ikan Kekek: sure thing. That was a case of me not seeing the forest for the trees. I was focused on formatting the listing correctly so much that I didn't see whether it was appropriate for the airport to be listed in a region article in the first place. I'll pay more attention in the future. Gizza (roam) 01:29, 24 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

902 numbers in Spain

[edit]

Hi. I've seen you add a +34 in front of telephone numbers starting with 902, 901 or 80x. Those numbers doesn't work if you call from outside Spain, and adding a +34 will lead to a non working telephone number. I reverted your recent edit in Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park.

@Mmorell: Do ensure you add "(domestic)" afterwards, though. That way it doesn't trigger the errorhighlighter gadget. //shb (t | c | m) 07:42, 11 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Mmorell: It would also help if such special numbers were explained in Spain#Connect. I tried to fix numbers in a few cities, but couldn't do much as the info was missing and I don't know how the Spanish numbers work. There should be info on how to recognise domestic numbers, high-fee numbers and perhaps some other special numbers. We should also tell how telephone numbers are written domestically and how to change that format to the international one (which usually is by adding the "+country code" and removing an area code prefix). –LPfi (talk) 10:50, 11 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
@LPfi. I've found this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telephone_numbers_in_Spain. It's correct to include a link to this page??? I think this page will be maintained, but if I cut&paste to vikivoyage, I will not think about refreshing it. Mmorell (talk) 15:02, 11 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
I assume any major reform in the Spanish number plan will soon be noticed and the section amended here, so there is no great issue with updating, if we don't go into too much detail. The Wikipedia article isn't included in offline versions of Wikivoyage, it contains a lot of stuff not needed for travel, and we can do a better job presenting the info.
Hence: we shouldn't paste (parts of) the article, but summarise the essential info and tweak it to suit our style.
LPfi (talk) 19:30, 11 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the pointer. I now wrote Spain#Phone numbers. However, it seems the article didn't include info on what numbers are or aren't reachable from abroad. Please tweak and add info as you see fit. –LPfi (talk) 20:10, 11 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
@LPfi I've updated Spain#Phone numbers Mmorell (talk) 07:18, 12 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I am Gamerboykarl. I am new. I have faced some lagging issues while source editing. Can you help me? Gamerboykarl (talk) 10:58, 3 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for creating a new article. In Japan articles, we always use the 24-hour clock (09:00-18:00), not the 12-hour clock (9AM-5PM). See the box at the tope of talk:Japan for formatting conventions. Ground Zero (talk) 13:11, 12 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

toll-free in the template refers to phone numbers 🤦🏻‍♂️

[edit]

Hi.

I don't know what happend to my mind, but few weeks ago I started using the "Tollfree" field as if it was an indication of if the parking is a free or paid parking. and I remember to think: "this has to be a new feature.. how cool" 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

I used that in an good amount of parkings since then, until you write that note. And I felt really stupid (not your fault!)

Is there an automated way to list all those mistakes?. something like: if it has the "parking" word and the tollfree field is not empty.

if not I will try to review by hand

thanks for pointing this and sorry for the problems Mmorell (talk) 09:09, 12 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Mmorell: please don't be sorry! You do excellent work on improving Wikivoyage's coverage of Catalonia. Sometimes our rules and templates are confusing and unfortunately there is too much apathy in the editing community to make things clearer and easier for new editors. The best place is write about toll would "Price" or "Content".
There may be an automated way but you would have to ask in the pub. Maybe all of the remaining articles appear in Category:Listing_with_phone_format_issue or Category:Listing with phone missing country code so you can find them there. Gizza (roam) 00:11, 13 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
